THE STORY OF COFFEE KING
A collaborative love-affair with music that resulted in a passion for coffee.
Coffee King is indeed the king of coffees! With an unmatched aroma and splendid taste that lingers long after your last sip, it is truly one of the most beautiful coffees you will ever enjoy.
After the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, the Rwandan coffee industry gave survivors, especially women, a path to hope and reconstruction. What started as a music collaboration with Rwandan superstar Butera Knowless culminated in a love affair with Rwandan culture and coffee. Coffee King imports beans EXCLUSIVELY from Rwanda, supporting Africa and helping rebuild countries torn apart by conflict. Women were given the opportunity to rebuild their lives through the coffee industry.
After collaborating with Rwandan superstar Butera Knowless (who as a young child lost her family as a result of the genocide against the Tutsi) on an album of the multi-award winning South African guitar duo CH2, where she did a beautiful rendition of 'MY AFRICAN DREAM' as well as her own song written for the post-genocide young women called 'KO NASHIZE', combined with my life-long love affair with great coffee, inevitably lead to the discovery of the aromatic life-changing Rwandan coffee industry and the constructive role the coffee farms play to help post-genocide survivors, especially woman, put food on the table and reconstruct their lives and build families again.
